Built in 1828 under the vision of Ioannis Kapodistrias, this remarkable building served as Greece’s first orphanage, housed important institutions of the newly established Greek state, and was home to the country’s first experimental centre for agricultural policy and agricultural education. For nearly two centuries, it was a place of knowledge, care, work and memory, before embarking on a different chapter of its history as the Prisons of Aegina.

Today, a new chapter begins, as the building becomes the home of the Aegina Pistachio Museum.
